O site Sképsis foi criado como resultado de um projeto internacional sobre o ceticismo, financiado pelo CNPq (Chamada Universal 2013), intitulado: “Neopirronismo: questões epistemológicas e históricas”. Esse projeto envolveu pesquisadores brasileiros e estrangeiros, tendo dois eixos principais. De um lado, promoveram-se o estudo, o desenvolvimento e a crítica do ceticismo contemporâneo, em particular o neopirronismo nas suas versões principais. De outro lado, investigou-se o papel do ceticismo na história da filosofia, de Pirro em diante.

O objetivo deste site sempre foi mais amplo do que o do projeto que lhe deu origem, pois cumpriu (e ainda cumpre) diversas funções, entre as quais: servir de suporte à revista Sképsis, fomentar a integração de pesquisadores do ceticismo, contribuir para a formação de jovens pesquisadores, traduzir textos de pesquisadores estrangeiros para o português e verter textos de pesquisadores brasileiros para o inglês, informar a respeito dos principais eventos sobre ceticismo, produzir material sobre o ceticismo e permitir a discussão informal sobre temas céticos, registrar a história dos estudos céticos.

Ademais, este site congrega, além dos membros do projeto, estudiosos do ceticismo, brasileiros e estrangeiros. Todos os estudiosos do ceticismo, de qualquer nacionalidade, podem solicitar sua inclusão como um membro deste site.

Agora, em 2023, o site foi reformulado e ampliado. Além da revista Sképsis, de traduções e informações, ele contém três novas seções: livros, fóruns e blogs. A finalidade da seção livros é divulgar boas teses e dissertações sobre o ceticismo, mas também manuscritos originais. Os fóruns são dedicados a debates sobre o ceticismo. Os blogs, por sua vez, têm finalidade mais ampla: neles, pode-se escrever sobre assuntos ligados à política acadêmica, filosofia em geral, literatura, cultura e até futebol.

Este site disponibiliza todos os textos gratuitamente, porque entende que a produção do saber deve ser publicada e acessível a todos.
The Sképsis website was created as a result of an international project on skepticism, funded by CNPq (Universal Call 2013), entitled: "Neopirronism: epistemological and historical issues". This project involved Brazilian and foreign researchers and had two main axes. On the one hand, it promoted the study, development and critique of contemporary skepticism, in particular neo-Pyrrhonism in its main versions. On the other hand, it investigated the role of skepticism in the history of philosophy, from Pyrrhus onwards.
The aim of this site has always been broader than that of the project that gave rise to it, as it has fulfilled (and still fulfills) various functions, including: supporting the journal Sképsis, fostering the integration of skepticism researchers, contributing to the training of young researchers, translating texts by foreign researchers into Portuguese and translating texts by Brazilian researchers into English, providing information about the main events on skepticism, producing material on skepticism and allowing informal discussion on skeptical topics, recording the history of skeptical studies.
In addition, this site brings together Brazilian and foreign scholars of skepticism, as well as members of the project. All scholars of skepticism, of any nationality, can request to be included as a member of this site.
Now, in 2023, the site has been revamped and expanded. In addition to journal Sképsis, translations and information, it contains three new sections: books, forums and blogs. The purpose of the books section is to disseminate good theses and dissertations on skepticism, but also original manuscripts. The forums are dedicated to debates on skepticism. The blogs, on the other hand, have a broader purpose: one may write about subjects related to academic politics, philosophy in general, literature, culture and even football.

This site makes all the texts available for free, because it believes that papers and books should be open access, if one wants to promote knowledge.
